Burns Supper

The Society's 2018 Burns Supper will be on 18th January in London at 6.15pm at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, EC1Y 4SD. We are very pleased to announce this year’s line-up of speakers as Sir Tom Windson, Gavin MacColl QC, Linda Ormiston and Professor Purdie

The Society's last annual Burns Supper, the largest in the City, took place on 19th January 2017. The event, the highlight of the calendar for many Scots lawyers, was a huge success. Over 400 people attended, in equal measures from London and North of the border, to enjoy haggis, hear from an impressive line-up of speakers, as well as catch up with their contacts London based and further afield.




Menu

Starter

Confit lamb ravioli, celeriac remoulade, lemon and parsley gremolata and sticky burnt butter sauce; or

Cauliflower cheese soup, port and raisin puree and yeasted mustard crumbs (V)

Main Course

Hay smoked beef, marrow bone and herb crumb, fried onion and yukon gold mash, candied carrot, spinach and verbena puree with brown butter caper sauce; or

Smoked baby leek, pea and vegetarian parmesan potato cake, roasted Brussel sprouts, almonds, lentil ragu with pomegranate syrup and labneh (V)

Dessert

Walnut and maple steamed pudding, crème brulee ice cream, pecan butter anglaise and walnut biscuit

New this year: the Brewery are going to offer diners the opportunity to order cheese at the same time they order wine for the table

Important information re Place Cards and Invitations

Printed invitations are not required for entry to the dinner. New this year – applicants should supply their own place cards if required and are responsible for laying out their place cards at their table and access is given early to the Porter Tun room where the Supper is held to allow this to be done.
