Burns Supper 2020

The Society's last annual Burns Supper, the largest in the City, took place on 17th January 2018. The event, the highlight of the calendar for many Scots lawyers, was a huge success. Over 400 people attended, in equal measures from London and North of the border, to enjoy haggis, hear from an impressive line-up of speakers, as well as catch up with their contacts London based and further afield.
Starter: Salmon Mi Cuit, tartar dressing, scraps, yolk, pickled cucumber, radishes
Vegetarian starter: Celeriac, truffled celeriac custard, salt baked beetroots, apple, hazelnuts
Main: Sticky beef cheek, pink sirloin, mustard dumpling, potato puree, heritage carrots, turnip, potato dust, spinach
Vegetarian main: Root vegetable lasagne, king oyster mushroom, crispy kale, hazelnut pesto (vegan)
Dessert: Passion fruit and charcoal pavlova, black sesame ice cream, yuzu curd, pink coral

What is the order of events?
6.15pm: Drinks reception - King George III Room
7.00pm sharp: Supper - Porter Tun Room
11.00pm: Ceilidh – music as ever by The Frank Reid Scottish Dance Band
We are pleased to confirm our speakers for this year's Supper.
Our Haggis will be addressed this year by Aidan O'Neill QC, Advocate and Barrister, Ampersand Advocates and Matrix Chambers.
The Immortal Memory will be delivered by Arabella Weir, comedian, actress and writer and star of Scottish sitcom Two Doors Down.
The Toast to the Lassies will be delivered by Craig Rajgopaul, Barrister at Littleton Chambers.
The Reply to the Toast to the Lassies will be delivered by Lisa Henderson QC, Advocate and Barrister, Ampersand Advocates and 42 Bedford Row.
The closing date for applications is 6 November 2019. You will receive acknowledgement of your application following completion of the online form and you will then receive confirmation of acceptance and payment and this is confirmation of your successful table application.
If any payment is received and the application cannot be accommodated for any reason you will be notified within 2 working days and any monies received will be returned as soon as possible.
Information on how to order wine and or other drinks, and the opportunity to order a cheese board at the same time as wine ordering, will follow once your application has been confirmed.
Can I pre-order drinks?
With regard to pre-Supper drinks, these are made available in the King George III Room where a cash bar is available.
Pre-Supper and Supper drinks for corporate hospitality tables must be pre-ordered directly from The Brewery and not via the Society.
The wine list and forms for pre-ordering both pre-Supper and Supper drinks will follow once your application has been confirmed.
What if I have special dietary requirements?
Arrangements can be made for vegetarians/persons with special dietary requirements. This information is supplied to The Brewery via the Society. Please note that if the Society is not notified of any specific dietary requirements by Monday 6 January 2020 an extra cost may be charged by The Brewery for each special meal required and this cost will be passed on to the applicant.
What is the dress code?
The Burns Supper is a black-tie event. Highland Dress is acceptable and actively encouraged!
Can I provide a seating plan for my table?
Successful applicants are responsible for laying out place cards, if they are using them, at their table(s) and access is given early to the Porter Tun Room where the Supper is held to allow this to be done.
Can non-members apply for tickets?
The Committee would like to emphasise that for applications to be successful they must be made by a fully paid up member of the Society. To become a member please register and complete the online Membership form here.
